Video: ‘Consuming the Victorians’, A Cardiff Conference
The second of two short documentaries filmed and narrated by Kirstin Mills for the BAVS2016 ‘Consuming the Victorians’ conference in Cardiff, Wales. This film traces Kirstin’s footsteps as she travels to and experiences the many and varied aspects of the conference.
About this film: Earlier this year I was generously awarded a travel bursary for Post-doctoral and Early Career Researchers by Cardiff University, which allowed me to travel to Cardiff, Wales to speak at the BAVS 2016 ‘Consuming the Victorians’ Conference – an exciting, dynamic, and bustling conference on the subject of Victorian Literature, History and Culture. Part of the funding conditions were live tweeting the event, and producing two vlogs documenting my experiences. In this second short documentary, I wanted to capture a taste of the wonderful experience of attending the conference, from the excitement of traveling to the beautiful city of Cardiff, to the fascinating talks, exciting conversations, grand banquets, and gorgeous arcade and castle tours that we experienced.
My thanks to Cardiff University and the BAVS Committee for awarding me with this Bursary, and for providing me with such an exciting and creative opportunity. It was wonderful to have a chance to merge my academic and creative skills for these films, and I hope you have enjoyed them!
